There is certainly no shortage of remedies on offer, but as you have no doubt discovered, they don’t seem to work, or not for long.
I’m Clive Sherlock. I came to the same conclusion about what’s on offer more than forty years ago while working in psychiatry, first in the University Department at Charing Cross Hospital in West London and then in the University Department at the Warneford Hospital in Oxford. I saw first-hand and up close how the drugs we dispensed were frequently ineffective, often addictive and usually had many serious side effects. Off the record many doctors would privately admit this, but still we continued to dispense the drugs.
Being disillusioned with this situation, I developed Adaptation Practice and have been teaching it for the last forty years because research shows that it is safe and it works.

AP does not depend on drugs or talking therapies. By adapting to life in and around us we change and the emotion in us changes. Our moods, feelings and thoughts change and we feel stronger and happier.
All forms of life adapt to the environment around them. When we adapt to life as it really is, the quality of our life improves. For us it can mean the difference between unbearable suffering and living fulfilling, peaceful and enjoyable lives.
In a nutshell, AP is a form of inner emotional training to tackle the root causes of our emotional problems. It is born of the insight that though we are taught to regard emotional problems such as depression as problems of the brain, this is wrong. The thoughts and feelings are the smoke and in order to treat them we must search for the fire, which is emotion, a powerful life force that springs from deep inside us.
With practice an inner strength develops in us and enables us to cope with life and with our moods and feelings. As we become stronger, we become more resilient, more tolerant and more patient. We become less anxious, less worried, less angry, less depressed and less stressed.
